Who?
Figuration Studio is the creative partnership of married sculptors Joan Benefiel and Jeremy Leichman based out of Brooklyn, NY.
This dynamic duo creates large-scale public art installations, custom sculpture for private collections, and provides creative design & production solutions. Both Joan and Jeremy are master sculptors and hold MFA’s in Sculpture from the New York Academy of Art.
Studio Mission:
To energize and enhance urban spaces with meaningful and beautiful public art. As a team, we are passionate about making use of our diverse skill set to create positive and memorable experiences of art that anyone can discover and enjoy.
Artist’s Bio:
Joan and Jeremy met while earning their MFA’s in the rigorous beaux arts figure sculpture program at the New York Academy of Art in 2005 and have been collaborating ever since.
Jeremy also holds an undergraduate degree in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and is a master woodworker and metalsmith.
Joan gained more than a decade of technical and managerial expertise from working in bronze sculpture foundries before establishing Figuration L.L.C. in 2008.
